Best Vaporizers of 2014: Mid-Year Review
Since we are half-way through the year, it’s time for us to announce the best Vaporizers of 2014 (up to this point). This list includes our personal favorites for some of the different basic vaporizer categories; including best desktop, best portable and best wax pen vaporizer. It wasn’t always an easy choice, but we narrowed it down and picked our final winners. And the winners are…
1. Best New Desktop Vaporizer
Winner: The Herbalizer Vaporizer
This year arguably could hold the record for the most advanced vaporizers released to-date. The Herbalizer is nothing short of proof. Designed and created by 2 ex-NASA engineers, the Herbalizer easily stomped its way into the market, rivaling the world-renowned Volcano Vaporizer by German manufacturer, Storz & Bickel. Utilizing a quartz halogen bulb, the unit easily reaches vaporization temperature within a matter of 4 seconds. The Herbalizer was also designed with a 32MHz 16-bit computer processor to ensure precise and regulated temperature control. Essentially, what that means is that, no matter how fast the unit is being drawn from, it maintains temperature within 5 degrees of the set temperature. Between the quick heat up time, temperature regulation, functionality (balloon bag and whip tubing) and the overall vapor production and quality, it’s not hard to see why Herbie is the best desktop unit available on the market.

2. Best All-Purpose Portable Vaporizer
Winner: The Ascent Vaporizer
In today’s fast-pac
ed world, it’s no secret that with we like to have gadgets that we can bring on-the-go with us. Cell phones and tablets have dominated the market and desktop computer and laptop sales have taken a huge hit. The same thing is happening in the vaporizer industry. Luckily, with vaporizers like the Ascent, we no longer have to sacrifice performance and ease-of-use when we purchase a portable unit rather than a desktop. Before recently, I can honestly say that high-quality multi-functional portable vaporizers (Herbs, Oils, and Concentrates) ceased to exist. Maintaining portability and allowing multi-functionality, the Ascent is hands-down the best all-purpose portable vape. Precise temperature control, digital display, long battery life, and the all-glass air-path don’t exactly hurt the argument either.

4. Best Discreet Portable Vaporizer

Often times, vaporizer users will find themselves sacrificing performance for the ability to remain discreet. However, with the Indica, this is not the case. At just over 3” tall and 2” wide, the Indica lives up to the standard of temperature regulation. Easy one-touch use for cycling through the 5 heating levels makes the Indica extremely user-friendly. The 5 varying 5 heat settings are a huge play in the versatility department. Looking for just a few light puffs on your way out the door? The “Blue” heat setting would be a good place to start (358°F). Personally, I find that the “Green” setting is optimal; coming in at 376°F.

5. Best All-Purpose Pen Vaporizer

If you’re new to vaporizing and prefer to get your feet wet without dropping a Benjamin or two, these two vape pens are a good jumping-off point. Both units offer the functionality needed to use dry blends, waxy concentrates, and essential oils or “E-Juices.” With a one-button activation system, these pen vapes are perhaps the easiest for new users who are still adapting to vaporization. Ranging from about $39 to $60, they’re easily more affordable than most of the higher-end portable vaporizers. They’re designed for small sessions more so than heavy use. A puff here, a puff there. Not necessarily something you’d pass around at a party, but a good place to start for personal use.

6. Best Wax Pen Vaporizer

Let’s face it, most w
ax vaporizers look the same and will function just the same. The one important aspect you should look for in a good wax pen is quality. Most atomizers die within a few weeks. However, the Dr. Dabber Ghost Vaporizer is all about quality. They use very high-quality atomizers that will last for much longer and produce vapor much more efficiently. Even when you open the Dr. Dabber box, you can tell the difference. The packaging is much nicer than most wax pens and it also includes a convenient non-stick container for storing your favorite concentrates or waxes. The vapor production on the Ghost is also quite impressive. I was able to get huge clouds of vapor without much effort. In a world full of the same wax pen vaporizers, this one stands above the rest. I highly recommend.

7. Best Glass Dome Wax Pen Vaporizer

If you’re looking to vape your waxy concentrates on-the-go and in style, the C-Rig might just be the right vape pen for you. I don’t know about the Dube being on the list although I will admit it is pretty versatile. When I first got my Dube it didn’t work super well and I could not figure out what was going wrong. After I watched a few Youtube videos I learned a few tips and tricks for producing thicker vapor. Once you get the hang of it I will admit it is a pretty good vaporizer but it is not the best vape for beginners in my opinion.
You guys should have put the new T-Vape on the list. I know it is new but it is still one of the best pen vapes for herbs ever made. It actually vaporizes your herbs, all these other “pen vapes” just burn it, most of them are actually just electronic pipes. The T-Vape is cool too because you can customize the size to fit your needs. But other than that, nice list.
I would agree with the Herbalizer being number 1, that thing is amazing. The Herbalizer really changed the vape game and took things to another level. Sit it next to a Volcano, load it up and start filling a bag. No one in their right mind would tell you that the Volcano is better, the Herbalizer is here to stay!
