Quick Review

Manufacturer: Arizer

The Good:

The glass stem provides great vapor production with no off flavors. Twelve minute auto shutoff conserves the 3 hour life of the lithium-ion battery. Seven preset temperatures offer a nice range to ensure complete vaporization. The Solo is a well-built vaporizer from a North American based company.

The Bad:

The bulkiness of the unit makes it less discreet than other portable vaporizers available. You cannot use the Solo while it is charging, though an adapter is available. Glass can break and leave you without a vaporizer.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The Arizer Solo is a high quality vaporizer that is great for large clouds and flavorful hits. The long battery life keeps you well vaped over the course of a day. Not the most discreet vaporizer, but the vapor production is well worth it.

DESIGN AND AESTHETICS

The Arizer Solo is a high quality handheld vaporizer that is slightly smaller than a Red Bull energy drink can and features a stainless steel heating core.  Instead of silicon or vinyl, the draw stems are constructed of high quality borosilicate, providing flavorful hits of vapor.  This portable uses an internal lithium-ion battery that is capable of 3 to 4 hours of use, depending on your temperature setting.  With seven preset temps ranging from 122 to 410 degrees, you’ll be able to find the perfect level for your needs.  The Arizer Solo is available in either Silver or Black and comes with two draw stems; one curved & the other straight.

HOW DO I INSERT THE DRAW STEM?

A common issue that many Solo users experience on their first run with the vape is resistance when inserting the draw stem; luckily there is an easy fix.  Simply set the unit to level 7 and let it heat up.  Upon reaching this temperature, rest the bowl end of the tube right above the heating chamber.  After a few moments, apply pressure and twist inward at the same time.  Though it may feel as if the glass will break, the heat has slightly expanded the chamber to allow enough space for the stem to fit comfortably.  This is only necessary once and going forth the draw stem will fit into the Solo with ease.

WHICH TEMPERATURE SETTING SHOULD I USE?

When it comes to selecting which temperature level to use, it is mostly a matter of personal preference and the vapor production you are looking to achieve.  Level 1 is only set to 122°F and not capable of creating any vapor.  It is good measure to start at level 3 (374°F) and work your way up to level 5 (393°F).  The last two levels run rather hot at over 400°F and can be used to thoroughly vaporize all of the active ingredients in the herb.

CAN THE SOLO BE USED WHILE CHARGING?

No, the wall charger that comes standard with the unit does not allow for use while connected.   This stock charger takes roughly 4 hours to go from completely depleted to a full battery.  However, Arizer does offer a power adapter that will not charge the vape, but rather converts it to a plug-in vaporizer when the battery is dead.  Also available is a car charger, which is great for camping and long road trips.  Re-charge often to be certain that your Solo is always ready for action.

UPDATE: The newest version of the Arizer Solo can be used while charging.

HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?Arizer Solo Vaporizer - Silver

As stated prior, the battery ought to last for 3 to 4 hours of use.  Now a lot of the life will depend upon how frequently the unit is turned on/off and length of time spent heating up.  Lithium-Ion batteries will last longer overall if you do not discharge it fully.  A common approach is to re-charge between sessions to insure the longevity of the Solo’s battery life.  There are some aftermarket batteries available, but they are not truly necessary and can be a hassle to replace.

CAN IT BE USED WITH A BONG?

Though Arizer does not offer a ground glass water pipe adapter, you can certainly use the Solo with a bong.  Simply pack the draw stem as you normally would and allow the Solo to reach your desired temperature.  Remove the bowl from your bong and insert the glass tube directly into the down stem.  The vapor production may be a little lighter at first, but that is due to the longer air path that it must travel.  A higher temperature will help create thicker clouds while using your water pipe.

TECHNIQUES FOR USING THE ARIZER SOLO

Many users find that drawing from the Solo is similar to drinking a thick milk-shake; however there are some methods for getting clouds of vapor.  Set the vaporizer to the desired temperature, the numbers will illuminate as that temperature is reached.  To avoid spilling herb while inserting the draw stem, hold the unit upside down and connect to the stem.  Flip the unit right side up and wait about fifteen seconds before inhaling.  One continuous draw for roughly ten seconds will create nice clouds of vapor.  For the best vape production, do not clamp your mouth on the stem, but rather allow for some airflow around it.  The Arizer Solo is equipped with a twelve minute auto-shutoff to conserve battery life, which is the perfect length for a session.  Also, you can return to the last temp setting used by pressing the down arrow for five seconds.  The beep can be turned off with the same method using the up arrow.

DO I NEED A SCREEN?

Though not necessary when using the Solo, some people do prefer to use a ½” screen.   There are four holes in the stem that will stop most herb particles from being sucked through.   A screen will slightly reduce the ease of airflow, but will completely prevent herb from ending up in your mouth.  Either way you go, the stem will need to be cleaned after extensive use.  Simply fill a sandwich baggie with isopropyl alcohol, some coarse salt and shake furiously.  This will remove any build up and a quick rinse with warm water will have the stem fresh as new.

OVERALL REVIEW

The quality of the Arizer Solo’s construction is virtually unmatched when choosing a portable vaporizer.  Some may consider it a little bulky when compared to a lot of the other units available.  However, with the lengthy battery life and quick heat up time, vaping at a moment’s notice is hardly an issue.  The glass draw stem provides very pure flavor and is great for those who really want to taste their herb.  Though it cannot be used while charging without the power adapter, you can do a partial charge in times of need.  The Arizer Solo is a phenomenal vape for both home use and out on the go.

yes, the arizer solo is also my favorite vaporizer, but i disagree about the price! It’s one of the cheapest mobile devices!

Has anyone tried using this yet while it is plugged in and charging? I heard that all the new models allow you to do this but I want to be sure before I buy it. I was thinking about getting this or the Pax but I have read so many bad reviews about the Pax now I am starting to worry. I also the Pinnacle Pro was pretty still gotta do more research on it though.

If this was just a bit cheaper, this would probably be the best overall vaporizer. For such a small device it always works super well without any problems.

I agree. This thing rips! If I had any complaints it would be the glass tube can be kinda of weird but you get use to it.

Yea when I first got it I was scared to be too rough inserting the glass stem. But once you get used to it there is nothing to worry about. A good for inserting the stem is letting the Arizer Solo heat up before you try to force it in. That way the heat allows the materials to expand a bit making insertion easier.

you have to use a screen or else the bud goes into the tube and into your mouth and into you’re lungs!!!!!!!!

You would have to be a real fool to let that happen. The Solo comes with screens, watch a youtube video, read a review. Everyone knows that you need to use a screen with the Arizer Solo.

This vape is by far the best portable vape for herbs I’ve used. I used to have a Pax, but the mouthpiece broke and VapeWorld wouldn’t help me at all so I bought this vape from another site and not only does it work better, it feels much sturdier and is built out of metal instead of cheap China plastic. Highly recommend this vape!

Solo and the Ascent are the two best portables out there easily. The Solo IMO is a little bit more powerful and creates a stronger vapor, the Ascent on the other hand is a little bit more portable and better for carrying around in your pocket. The new version of the Arizer Solo can supposedly vape while it is charging but I would recommend it. I have read a few different reviews stating that vaping while charging will decrease the lifespan of the battery.f
